Project overview
The customer had three old cold rooms that needed replacement as they where past economical repair, however could not be without their cold storage capacity.
The Challenge
Replacing all three cold rooms (2 x chillers & 1 x freezer) whilst keeping site operational.
Scope of works
- Supply of multiple temporary refrigerated trailers to maintain operations while works were carried out
- Decommission and removal of existing cold rooms
- Supply & delivery of all materials required for new rooms
- Cut to size, and installation of new panels to construct new rooms
- Supply & delivery of remote refrigeration equipment
- Installation & commissioning of refrigeration equipment
- Removal of the temporary refrigerated trailers once the room was fully operational
Key features of new room
- Food safe 30minute fire rated panel construction
- Hinged doors with emergency push button exit
- Low voltage heaters to freezer door to prevent frosting
- Low temperature energy saving strip curtains
- Low temperature LED lights
- Full shelving throughout to customer specifaction
- Man trap alarms
- Door open alarms
- Anti slip floor
- Cages around outdoor condensers to prevent tampering or damage
The Result
The client received a brand new cold room consisting of a larger chilled storage area and a smaller freezer storage area. Complete with remote refrigeration equipment, shelving, door alarms, man trap alarms, energy saving strip curtains and low temperature LED lighting
Importantly, operations were maintained throughout via temporary cold storage.
