Chiller and freezer door replacements

Kicking things off in the new year with a couple of chiller and freezer door replacements.

We removed old, damaged doors and retrofitted smart, new insulated doors to improve reliability, access and temperature performance.

Project overview

This upgrade focused on replacing ageing cold room doors that were no longer fit for purpose.

As you can see from the photos, the existing green door had taken plenty of knocks over time, with dents to the door skin and visible damage around the corner edge.

The issue

Cold room doors do a lot of heavy lifting. When the door leaf is damaged or the seals no longer sit correctly, you start to see the knock-on effects:

  • Reduced seal integrity and more air leakage
  • Harder operation for staff day to day
  • Greater strain on the refrigeration system
  • Increased risk of temperature fluctuation

The close-up photo highlights a split and torn section to the corner, exactly the sort of damage that can compromise performance and hygiene standards.

Our solution

We supplied and installed new insulated replacement doors, retrofitted to the existing opening and adjusted to suit the site. The finished result is a clean, robust white door set with a proper frame, upgraded hardware, and a solid close.

In the completed photo, you can see the new door fitted neatly within the opening, with the latch and handle positioned for straightforward operation.

How the install was completed

To keep disruption to a minimum, the works were planned and completed efficiently:

  • Removed the old damaged door and associated components
  • Checked the opening and made good where required
  • Retrofitted the new insulated door and frame
  • Aligned hinges and hardware for a smooth close
  • Checked the seal contact and overall operation before sign-off

Result

A tidy, secure, easy-to-use cold room door that looks the part and performs as it should. With a tighter seal and improved closing action, the cold room is better protected against warm air ingress and everyday wear and tear.

Need a chiller or freezer door replacing

If you’ve got a cold room door that’s damaged, difficult to close, or affecting temperature performance, we can inspect the door set and recommend the most cost-effective replacement or retrofit option.
